“The amount of fossil fuels required to build the wind and solar infrastructure makes wind and solar A PARASITE on the larger economy.” - Dr. Patrick Moore, Founder of Greenpeace

To build a single wind turbine requires:

Onshore wind turbine (modern ~3–4 MW) — typical material ranges

Per turbine (tower + nacelle + blades + foundation):

  • Concrete (foundation): ~1,500–2,500 tons (Big spread because soil conditions and design drive foundation size.)

  • Steel + cast iron (tower, rebar, nacelle, hub, internals): ~400–900 tons total

    • Tower shell: often 150–300 tons steel

    • Rebar in foundation: 30–60 tons steel

    • Nacelle + hub + internals (steel + cast iron): 150–300+ tons

  • Copper (wiring, generator, transformer): ~3–10 tons

  • Blades (fiberglass/carbon + resin): ~15–30 tons total
